We’re actively developing J2Commerce v6, a major new release built without the F0F library or jQuery and designed for full Joomla 6 compatibility. Because v6 is a complete rebuild, it requires thorough testing to meet the stability and quality you expect.
To ensure no one is held back while v6 is being finalized, we’ve decided to extend the J2Commerce 4 series with a new branch that supports Joomla 6.
Why this approach
- We don’t want to prevent anyone from upgrading to Joomla’s latest and greatest.
- It avoids rushing v6 out the door before it’s fully ready — stability matters, especially for e‑commerce.
What this means for you
- J2Commerce 4.0.x continues to support Joomla 4 and 5.
- J2Commerce 4.1.x will support Joomla 5 and 6.
- You can upgrade Joomla without waiting for v6.
Important requirement
The 4.x series will only work on Joomla 5 and 6 if the Backward Compatibility plugin is enabled with all options turned on.
Why this is necessary
- The F0F library depends on the backward compatibility layer.
- Some core pages and custom overrides may not rely on Joomla namespacing yet.
