#986 J2 commerce doesn't adapt to the language

I have a multilingual Joomla6 J2 V6 site.
J2 commerce doesn't adapt to the choosen language.

"Add to basket" "Producst" etc texts remain English.

Every product is added to a langugae, every has its own category added to the same language. Manus are added to the languge. Every language has its own template style. All menus, categories and products ara asscoiated.

I need help, I spent hours to figure outr what can be the problem. I have read the amnual, watched the video (what is for J2 store yet).
I ahve downloaded language packs, but I'm affraid 4.2 versions are for J2 Commerce V4 not J2 commerce v6

I can see where the frustration would come from - I am getting frustrated trying to figure it all out myself! :)

I am going to take a backup (if you don't mind) so I can test the different settings without disrupting the live store and should be able to figure this out for you.

 

The reason there aren't language packs for v6 is because they are included as part of the core component so as long as you have the languages installed on the site, then those installed languages will be added from the component on the next install.

The issue was the languages you installed from core Joomla were installed after the initial J2C install so none of them were installed at the time because only the en-GB was found. I just updated your site to 6.6.1 which also fixes real language translation issue with the transactional emails. I resynced them to the latest versions which now include language strings that will automatically send in the language that the order was created in.

  • I took the liberty of updating the style a little to match the store theme (you can change it whatever you wish)
  • I added your license key so you will not have any issues with future updates
  • I created a new Shopping Cart, Checkout, and Confirmation menu item to the French menus - make sure the subtemplate is set for UIKit since you are using a Yootheme template (you need to create these same sets of 3 menu items in each of the other languages) and if you don't wish for them to display in the main menu item then click the radio toggle to No for Display in Menu  (Link Type tab in the menu)
  • I am not sure why the default menu is not changing to the language specific menu on the checkout but that appears to be a template issue (and if that was the only thing left to figure out, then you are in a good place :)

I used the French language as the test subject you can see it working on those pages...

Thank you Adam, excellent support!

The language is not changing for you, because the Checkout and shopping cart menus which you created used the default template instead of the Yootheme FR template which is used by the other french pages. I added the french template to these menus and put the menus below the Shop menu, mad it visible.

I used Bootstrap instead of ULKIT because strangely it looked better. By ULKIT in certain views had some buggy lines. I don't remember where. Also with ULKIT for example the french add to basket button is two line with bootstrap is only one (see attached images).

Let me pay your attention to another issue. Doesn't matte if I choose the ULKIT or the Bootstrap template, the checkout page shows light-gray background with white text, that makes it invisible. Please see attached pictures. Ther is only one difference, the basket module on the right. That shows properly with graphite gray background with ULKIT and light gray with Bootstrap.

This looks like the template style sheet is fighting the checkout stylesheet - if you need help with the css let me know and I can take a look at it for you.
