Hi,

In the easycheckout form, the fields that must be filled in are marked with a red asterisk. However, the message ‘Required field’ additionally appears as soon as a selection is made in the country and region drop-down menu. This is a bit of a nuisance, as we have positioned these two drop-down menus at the top of the form to immediately display the shipping costs and payment terms, which vary from country to country.

Is it possible to disable the display of ‘Required field’ (it appears anyway when the form is submitted if required fields have not been filled in) or assign it to a different field?

Many thanks in advance for your help!

Peter

I am sorry Peter, I realised we had never answered your ticket.

I have addressed this issue in v4.1.2 of the extension, which I should release this weekend.

Thank you for your patience! And if you ever write a ticket we did not answer in a timely manner, please don't hesitate to remind us :-)

Olivier.

Hi Olivier,

Thank you for your reply. Perhaps you could also resolve the following issue and include it in the next update of EasyCheckout:
If the delivery address differs from the billing address, the taxes should be calculated based on the delivery address, whilst the payment methods should be based on the billing address. This works when creating a new customer, but not for existing customers. Example: a customer from abroad has goods delivered to an address in Germany. Thus, German VAT should be shown during checkout, but only the payment method defined for international transactions should be offered. This works perfectly in the standard checkout, but in EasyCheckout, the payment methods (for existing customers) are assigned exclusively to the delivery address.

Regards
Peter

Hi Peter, I am about to release the extension with a few fixes, including this one.

Hi OLivier,

We have installed version 4.1.2, and now the following error message appears:
Warning: Undefined property: EasyCheckoutViewCheckout::$address in ... /components/com_easycheckout/controllers/checkouts.php on line 529

Furthermore, the billing address is now the sole determining factor for tax calculation and payment methods. However, we have specified in the configuration settings that tax calculation is determined by the delivery address and payment methods by the billing address (as mentioned, this works perfectly with the standard checkout).

As specified in the configuration, we do not wish to offer our customers the option to order as a guest. Nevertheless, the address form still asks whether an account should be created.

Regards,
Peter

Update:
We have set the order summary to 'next page'. Would it be possible to display the billing and delivery addresses on this page alongside the item and payment details? That would make for a complete set of order details.

Olivier

Hi Peter,

I went to your test site, but I guess this is not where you have updated Easy Checkout.

I have fixed the issues. Tax calculation choices are taken into account by Easy Checkout but were lost along the way.

As far as the message is concerned, I believe it shows because of CSS. It uses the 'hide' class but your template may not interpret it. I have added 'd-none' for bootstrap, so it covers more use cases.

Can you add credentials to this ticket so I can test that the fixes are correctly applied on your site?

Thank you!

Olivier.

Hi Olivier,

On the test page I have reactivated EasyCheckout, version 4.1.2.

Your changes do not seem to be taking effect:

1. The error message mentioned before still appears when logging into an existing account.

2. Now, the billing address is the only reference used – not just for the payment method, but also for tax and shipping costs (note: this only applies to existing customers; when creating a new customer, it works perfectly).

3. The "required field" message no longer pops up, but the required fields are also no longer marked with a red asterisk.

Where can I enter credentials here?

Regards,
Peter

Olivier

Hi Peter,

you don't see changes because I did not install the update on the test site :-)

As far as credentials, it is easy: edit the ticket and you'lll see the fields for them.

Hi Olivier,

I should have guessed :-)

Do you want to try it on the test site first, or shall I send you the login details for the live site?

Peter

Olivier

Hi Peter,

I have not updated Easy Checkout on your test site because you were setup with Advanced Checkout.

I would prefer we keep testing on your test site to avoid any disruption.

I have updated the test site, so you can give us feedback on it. If all goes well, I will move on to release it.

Hi Olivier,

1. A new error message apears now:

Warning: Undefined property: EasyCheckoutViewCheckout::$shipping_method_form in /var/www/vhosts ... ... /components/com_easycheckout/views/checkout/tmpl/default_shipping_payment.php on line 44   2. The "required field" message no longer pops up, but the required fields are also no longer marked with a red asterisk.   3. Shipping costs and tax are now assigned to the billing address – but should be assigned to the delivery address     - Payment methods are assigned to the billing address – great - The 'Guest' option has been removed – great

By the way, on the test site you can change all the settings, if necessary.     Regards
Peter

Ok, I made another update, I noticed something that was not right in the way addresses were gathered. Seems to work on my tests. Let me know.

Hi Olivier,

Yes, it’s working now – in principle! The only catch is that when you select an existing delivery address, the page doesn’t reload automatically; you have to refresh it manually. When you select a billing address, the page reloads automatically.

By the way, the scroll function at the end of the ordering process is brilliant!

Best regards,
Peter
