Hello Chris,

in order for J2Commerce to be compatible with Joomla 6, we need to get rid of the F0F library, which the extension is based on (and all 175+ add-ons). 

That is a tremendous amount of work we have started planning months ago.

What we already have is a major improvement over the last version, a completely integreated extension into the Joomla environment, with no requirement other than Joomla itself.

What we are offering is a brand new extension com_j2commerce that is able to sit next to your J2Store shop. So that you are able to compare and make sure the new shop works as well as the old one before you switch over. This needs to be done under Joomla 5.

Once satisfied with J2Commerce com_j2commerce, you will be able to remove J2Store com_j2store and all related add-ons, and then you will be cleared to move on to Joomla 6.

I am hopeful com_j2commerce will be ready close to the time Joomla 6.1 comes around (April 2026), which will be the perfect time to move your e-commerce site to Joomla 6.

Tagging on to what Olivier has already said - we are hoping to have it ready way before April of '26 but as he has said, it's a tremendous amount of work to essentially rebuild the entire system from the ground up while also ensuring that existing stores won't have a hard time upgrading. We are getting there closer each day and will make future updates and customizations so much easier for developers and users alike...

I appreciate your patience and enthusiasm for J2. Now that we have been able to assist all of the older loyal customers migrate their stores over (most were held up due to multiple J2 plugins never migrating to Joomla 4/5). We are focusing 80% on the Joomla 6 native version (other 20% is existing bugs/plugins) and have decided to keep the J2 component free along with some of the apps. Most of the apps will eventually switch over to a paid model so we are playing the long game - earn enough to grow this business into something special by the countless apps that we already offer and will be offering - based on volume of users. Not everybody will be a paying customer, but those who manage real stores that generate real revenue will need some of the apps that don't come with the core component. We all make money (which is a win-win in my book).
