#264 After 'Save & Close' or 'Cancel' When Adding/Editing a J2Commerce Product I am Taken To Joomla Native Article Listing Not J2Commerce Product Lisitng

Hi there

This concerns the adding of a new J2Commerce product or editing an existing J2Commerce product.

In the admin area I navigate to J2Commerce > Catalog > Products so I can add a new product or edit an existing product, all without issues. The problem occurs when I hit 'Save and Close' or 'Cancel'. At this point instead of being returned to the product listing in J2Commerce > Catalog > Products I am taken to the Joomla! native article listing. Which means I have to navigate back to J2Commerce > Catalog > Products to see the product listings each time a new product is added or edited.

This is not really a problem for me but can cause confusion for a novice client trying to add stock themselves.

Thanks for the feedback. I changed the status to this ticket as public so others can benefit from this ticket as well.

I agree that opening a products from the J2 Product Listings page and then finding yourself in the article category page can be a bit confusing at first and something that may not make sense to some. I have often thought about how to do it differently (when I was only a user) and here is where I ended up:

It ends up in the articles category view because at it's heart, it's really a Joomla article on ecommerce steriods. So usually, when I need to edit multiple products (like it sounds like you are doing when it comes to inventory for instance), I will use the Inventory view in J2Commerce to easily adjust the inventory levels of all the product variants without having to open/close each one OR I will use the article category view to move through the products I need add/edit more than just price/inventory...

There will never be a perfect system for everybody - some like using the products in their native article view, while others display their products using the J2 view...

We will take a look at the flow in general to see if there is anything we can do to improve that end, but any changes made would be in bringing J2 closer to core Joomla (which is what makes it so powerful to begin with).

Hi there

For inexperinced users the J2 list view is better because it shows a thumbnail of the products but I understand what you are saying.

I will try and encourage people to use the J2 inventory view for product edits.
