Hi,

I'd like to be able to use the J2 search plugin, but it only returns content from a single menu item, which is a bit restrictive.

Is there a plan to modify it so It will search all categories/menu items?

what do you get from the com_content search plugin? Aren't menu items and categories handled by it?

KInd of, not really.

The Joomla search results format with different styles than those rendered via J2Commerce. So, it's not really desirable to use it. I think the results from the Joomla search don't render the J2Commerse css/js which is the issue.

So, it would be much nicer to use the J2Commerse version which does return properly formatted product items. But, it is limited to a single category, which is no good as we have many. I think all it needs is the option to include child categories/menu items and a parent menu item that is a separator type to encompass all items in the menu. To me this makes sense.

Is there any news on this plugin being able to search multiple categories yet?

Dave,

I am almost done testing it and in addition to not needing to use the single menu item in the plugin - the new J2 Routing checks the products's category to see if there is a J2 Category menu item and then displays the SEF url the the product with the correct menu item, I also added the ability for a product sku typed into the search bar to also return the product.

I will email it to you shortly so you can test and let me know if we are good to go...
