I am developing an update to our website sundials.org on a local host (WAMP) and am replacing Phoca Cart with J2 Commerce (6.6.4), a much better e-commerce solution.  I'm down to email templates.

I have created a custom field called Lat_Lon that requires user to enter their latitude & longitude.  That works nicely on both billing and shipping address info.  But now, how to I get the Lat_Lon into the email templates?  It is important for both customer and for sundial admin.

I checked the database J2commerce_orders and J2commerce_ordersinfos and do not see my custom field Lat_Lon stored.  Where is it stored and how can I access it for the email templates?

Robert,

Welcome to the J2Commerce family!

If you created custom/checkout fields in the J2Commerce component (as opposed to the core Joomla custom fields for clarity), then those values are stored in the addresses table and depending on whether you are using the Joomla WYSIWYG editor or the built in Visual Editor, here are the instrucitons:

Visual Editor:

  1. Drag a Text block (or double-click an existing text area) to where the field should go.
  2. Type the tag as plain text: [CUSTOM_SHIPPING_FIELD:DELIVERY_NOTES].
  3. Save.

Don't use the Shortcodes block for this. Its dropdown only offers the predefined tags, so a custom-field tag can't be picked there.

Joomla editor (TinyMCE/CodeMirror)

Put the cursor where you want the field and type or paste the tag, e.g. [CUSTOM_BILLING_FIELD:PO_NUMBER]. In TinyMCE, type it as plain text in the visual mode. Don't wrap it in a link, and don't paste it into an image src
attribute.

Examples can be found at the bottom of each email template and you can get the language constant for the custom field when you open the custom field itself

Hope this helps!

Adam
