Hi all,
I noticed that the Italian provinces in the #__j2commerce_zones table are outdated, and one entry is corrupted. The same data is also present in the legacy J2Store zones table.
1) Corrupted name
- FC is stored as "Forl" instead of "Forlì-Cesena". It looks like the accented character truncated the string during import (character encoding issue).
2) Sardinia is out of date
The list still reflects the pre-2025 situation. Sardinia's territorial reform (Regional Law no. 7/2021, fully operational since 17 July 2025) abolished the "Sud Sardegna" province and re-established the following:
- Sulcis Iglesiente (replaces the old Carbonia-Iglesias, currently stored as CI)
- Gallura Nord-Est Sardegna (replaces the old Olbia-Tempio, currently stored as OT)
- Medio Campidano (VS, name OK)
- Ogliastra (OG, name OK)
Sassari and Cagliari are now metropolitan cities (codes SS and CA unchanged).
According to the Italian Council of Ministers (9 April 2026, preliminary approval), the new vehicle-registration codes are SU (Sulcis Iglesiente), VS, OG and OT (Gallura Nord-Est Sardegna). Please double-check the final codes against the official source before updating, as this was only a preliminary approval.
Current rows affected (country_id = 105):
- CI "Carbonia-Iglesias" -> should become "Sulcis Iglesiente"
- OT "Olbia-Tempio" -> should become "Gallura Nord-Est Sardegna"
- FC "Forl" -> should be "Forlì-Cesena"
Suggestion: it would be great if the zones data were refreshed in a future release, ideally through an update script that doesn't overwrite zone names customised by store owners.
Optional feature request: an option in the configuration to display the zone code (e.g. "MI") instead of the full name in the zone dropdown. In Italy, province abbreviations are the standard way to write an address, and full names are easily confused with city names (e.g. Milano/Roma).
Thanks for your great work!
