#257 Support for J2Store & Joomla 5 Compatibility

Hello J2Commerce team,
I’m currently running a large Joomla 4 website with J2Store and planning to upgrade to Joomla 5. I've heard that the original J2Store development has stopped at version 4, and that your team might have taken over its continuation.
Can you please confirm:


Are you now responsible for the future development and support of J2Store?


Will J2Store be compatible with Joomla 5?


Is there any migration or upgrade path that would allow me to keep all products and functionalities exactly as they are?


My store has a large number of products, and it’s very important that no functionality or data is lost during the upgrade.
Thank you very much for your time and clarification.

The answer is YES to all of those questions and have helped many J3 sites transition their J2 stores over to the latest versions of Joomla 4 and 5. In addition to migrating 120+ Joomla 3 J2Store extensions to Joomla 5, we are already in the early stages of a native Joomla 6 version that will be upgradable from Joomla 5 stores as well. 

 

I myself have over 50 J2 stores that have already been migrated over to Joomla 5 so the migration process should be as smooth as possible otherwise I would be in just as much pain as you and the countless other J2 store owners as well.

 

We recommend to do the Joomla 3 migration on a development site to ensure everything has been smoothed out in the process, and here are specific steps to help you in the migration process:
