Can you provide support for "PayPal Complete" multivendor payments?  I am working on a project where users can sell used books on my site.  When a buyer selects books from more than 1 seller, I need to be able to process the sales through one checkout and then send money to each of the various sellers.  This used to be called PAYPAL ADAPTIVE but PayPal has sunset that in favor of PAYPAL COMPLETE / PAYPAL PAYOUTS.

2nd Request!

Hello,

as far as I can tell, comparing what would need to be done and the code we have, (I did not code the PayPal plugin for J2Commerce v6), what you are asking for is already in place for J2Commerce v6.

Where do I get j2Commerce V6?

Is it stable?

Olivier

Right here, on this site at https://www.j2commerce.com/download.

It has been good enough for us to use on a few new live sites already, even though I would encourage you to test it out first since it is still a beta.

The core extension is in beta, but the add-ons have not been released yet. However, you can try PayPal with the core extension.

  • I tried the V6 and it does work ok.  The Paypal extensions do not install in it, so for my purpose, V6 is not ready.

  • I really want to is J2Commerce but I need something to work in a multivendor application and it just does not do that.  I can't see anyway that I could adapt it.

Olivier

Yes, v6 is not ready, that is why it is in beta and not offered as final :-)

However, the PayPal payment plugin is included, so you can test that one out.

Make sure you have properly setup PayPal on your end, complete payments are only offered by PayPal if:

  • your account is a business account
  • Advanced checkout/complete payments is enabled
  • your business info has been verified by PayPal,
  • you accepted the card processing terms.

Then you also need the webhooks to be specified in the PayPal Developer Dashboard (go to Developer Dashboard -> My Apps & Credentials -> Your App -> Webhooks).

On top of that, the webhooks are separate in sandbox and live, so you need to specify them in both cases.

Suggested webhooks:

  • CHECKOUT.ORDER.APPROVED
  • PAYMENT.CAPTURE.COMPLETED
  • PAYMENT.CAPTURE.DENIED
  • PAYMENT.CAPTURE.REFUNDED
  • PAYMENT.AUTHORIZATION.CREATED
  • PAYMENT.AUTHORIZATION.VOIDED
  • CUSTOMER.DISPUTE.CREATED

There is also info at https://docs.j2commerce.com/v6/payment-methods/payment_paypal you may want to check out if you have not yet done so.

Finally, we need to send payment choices to PayPal, and that must be done through the API. That part, as far as I can see, is not offered in the plugin as it is now, we need to implement it on our end. I don't think we are far of, I will check with Adam for that part.

Thanks Oliver.

I have installed J2 v4.1.2 on Joomla 6.1.0.  Things work fine.  I have the Paypal Payments Advanced, Paypal Pro and Paypal Standard plugins installed.  They appear to work ok, but I have not set anything up yet as I do not know which one is for a multivendor payments.

I have had a paypal business/snadbox account for a long time and I do not anticpate that being a problem once I know whcih of your Paypal account will work for multivendors, either in V6 or V4.1.2

I have also installed J2 version 6.2.3 and I now have BOTH 6.2.3 and 4.1.2 on the same system.  Under the 6.2.3 setup, there is a PayPal payment method, but the setting are really not usable.  Most of the setting are still using language constant and the inline help is vague (see attached).

So, before I spend a lot time trying various trial and error configurations with either version, can you give me a bit more guidance on which Paypal payment pluging will do what I want and for which J2 version? Or even if J2Commerce will not do what I want?

Thanks!

Olivier

Hello,

yes, I realised we had an issue with language keys for some reason. The fix will be part of the next release.

v6 will offer complete payments out off the box, the PR is created, it needs more testing before we merge it to the core extension.

v4 remains unchanged, no new developments are planned at this time.

Thanks Oliver

As much as I would like to use J2Commerce for my project, I just don't see that you are working towards any kind of true marketplace multivendor option and that is the key aspect I need.

Thats ok!

If it is not in your business model, then you need to do what you are focused on.

I will continue to work towardfs that goal and hopefully I will find a way to accomplish it.  Thanks for your time and assistance!

Olivier

We are working an a vendor marketplace internally, it is not something we have ready at this time.

Thanks.

I am trying to get this project working in the next couple of weeks, so I am afraid I will have to use WordPress and Woo Commerce. There are a number of plugins I can use right now.  Not a big fan of Wordpress, but it seems like Joomla devs are not much interested in the multivendor market.

Olivier

I am afraid we won' t be ready for you by that time. Thanks for looking into our product!

Gary,

I am in the process of working on a vendor marketplace app for version 6 and would be interested in discussing this further (to make sure we are able to check off the common marketplace features as well as explore additional features that would make this better than alternatives on other platforms. So based on your email - I am interested in discussing this further.
