My client has a product that most notifications should be publicaly visible to one recipient, but the shipping dept should be bcc. Can I request that? Or did I miss it in the documentation? (We can apply it to all products in this store - no need to separate out the one.)

Yes, that is the use case - we are trying to control, for that one product, the chain the customer sees in the emails. To control this one notification, we are forwarding the email which is probably forwarding all the recipients in the email.
An option we have considered iss to remove this one product - it is only one item - from the store and use a form, but then we lose the J2Commerce reporting.

I had a store a few years back that needed something similar as they needed the order email to get automatically sent to their fulfillment warehouse, but they didn't want the product price and other customer info (like their email address) to get sent so the way I set it up using the current email system is I created 2 confirmation emails (a regular one for the customer only and another one for the store administrator only which was basically only the shipping info and order items for the warehouse to ship the order out.
The warehouse email was then added as a j2 administrator email in the confuration section.
I am also finishing the advanced notifications app which allows you to add bcc and additional email rules, but I am not sure when that will be ready...
