Order confirmed. Printer fires. Invoice lands on the fulfillment bench in under 10 seconds. No login. No PDF download. No Ctrl+P. J2Commerce's PrintNode Auto-Print Integration connects your Joomla ecommerce store to any networked printer through the PrintNode cloud service — triggering automatic invoice printing the moment an order hits your configured status. Set it once. Walk away. Let the printer do its job while you do yours.
Your Invoices Print Themselves.No. Really.
Order hits your trigger status. Printer fires. Invoice lands on the fulfillment bench in under 10 seconds. Nobody logged in. Nobody pressed Ctrl+P. Nobody remembered to do it. It just happened.
Everything Your Fulfillment Team Actually Needs
Built on native Joomla 6 MVC. Vanilla ES6+ JavaScript. No jQuery, no FOF baggage, no per-print charges. Just automation that handles itself.
Auto-Print on Status Change
When an order hits your trigger status, the plugin fires through J2Commerce's native event system and submits a print job. No polling. No cron. Fires the moment the status changes.
MODERNIZEDPost-Print Status Chaining
Confirmed prints, order automatically advances to Ready-for-Picking. Your fulfillment queue manages itself. No human moves orders between stages.
UPGRADEDInfinite-Loop Protection
If your post-print status accidentally matches a trigger status, the plugin detects the loop and bails. Your toner supply is safe. The debug log tells you what to fix.
NEWRetry with Exponential Backoff
Configure 0–5 retry attempts. Failed jobs wait 1s, then 2s, then 4s, up to 8s. Temporary API outages become brief delays, not lost print jobs.
NEWManual Print Button
One-click reprint on any order detail page. CSRF session token required. ACL-gated to core.manage. Username recorded in order history. Everything auditable.
MODERNIZEDLive Admin Status Dashboard
Account info, printer online/offline badge, computer connected/disconnected state, last 5 print jobs — all pulled live from the API right inside Joomla admin.
NEWPaper Size + Template Selection
A4, Letter, Legal, or A5. Select any invoice template from your J2Commerce library — customer invoice, kitchen ticket, picking slip. Set once, applies to every job.
UPGRADEDMultiple Copies Per Job
1–10 copies sent with every print job automatically. Picker copy, packing slip copy, records copy — one command, all copies, no reprints needed.
UPGRADEDOrder History Audit Trail
Every auto-print and manual-print event — success and failure — logged to the order timeline with PrintNode job ID, printer name, and admin username for manual triggers.

Who Uses This and Why
Before PrintNode integration, the fulfillment lead spent the first 90 minutes of every shift manually processing overnight orders: log in, find the order, download the PDF, print it, repeat 60+ times. Picking didn't start until well into the morning.
After: trigger set to "Confirmed," copies set to 2 (picker and packing slip). Orders that auto-confirm overnight print the moment they confirm. The lead walks in, grabs the stack that printed while the building was empty, and starts picking immediately. Post-print status advances orders to "Ready for Picking" so the admin queue always reflects reality.
Result: 90 minutes of overhead eliminated per shift. Picking starts on arrival, every day.
A custom-order bakery sells celebration cakes through their Joomla ecommerce store. When a customer pays, the pastry team in the kitchen needs a production ticket immediately — not whenever someone in the front office gets to it.
Configuration: "Payment Received" trigger, A5 paper, one copy, a minimal kitchen ticket template (no customer-facing branding or email headers). Thermal printer in the kitchen connects via PrintNode client on the front office PC.
Within 10 seconds of payment clearing, a production ticket prints in the kitchen. The pastry team never touches Joomla. They see tickets appearing when there's work to do — which is exactly what they wanted.
Result: Zero admin involvement in production ticket flow. Front office handles customers. Kitchen handles cakes.
A distributor runs three fulfillment bays — electronics, cables, accessories — from a single J2Commerce installation. They built three custom order statuses: "Electronics-Confirmed," "Cables-Confirmed," "Accessories-Confirmed." The PrintNode plugin is configured with the relevant trigger status and the printer physically mounted at each bay.
Orders route themselves to the right printer. Retry count set to 3 for occasional warehouse WiFi drops. Debug logging on during staging validation, off in production.
When the cloud printing service had a 4-minute outage one Thursday, the retry system held the jobs and submitted when connectivity restored. Nobody noticed. Nobody manually reprinted anything.
Result: Three bays, one store, zero manual routing decisions. The system handles it.

Label and barcode printing
Automated label and barcode printing is easy, fast and hassle-free with PrintNode. We support all the most popular label printers from the most trusted manufacturers, such as Zebra, DYMO, Epson and Brother, so you can print your 4x6 courier labels, 3x1 barcodes, pick lists and dispatch notices easily and without fuss.
PrintNode has full support for printer native formats such as ZPL, EPL, ESC/P, FGL, CPCL, ZPLII, EPL2, ESC/POS and more through our RAW printing feature, so you can get the most out of your label printer's advanced features, such as paper cutting.
Even if you are not using a specialised label or barcode printer, you can print barcodes and labels as PDF documents. PrintNode gives you plenty of options to control your printer, so you can be assured of reliable performance and repeatable quality.
One-click printing from your website
If you need fast, reliable, automated printing as part of your online workflow, PrintNode has you covered.
Your end users need labels, tickets or any kind of document printed as part of your online application workflow, but having them manually print via their browser is clumsy and error-prone – and is not a "one-click" solution. With a PrintNode integration, your backend system can send documents straight to your end user's printer – and you control formatting, sizing and printer settings, so you know the results will be predictable and correct.
Point-of-sale printing
PrintNode is ideal for point-of-sale (POS) applications. PrintNode has great support for receipt printers and continuous roll printers, and also supports cash drawer kick-out commands and weighing scales.
If you don't already have a Windows / macOS device for your POS solution, PrintNode also runs on low-cost, low-power devices like the Raspberry Pi. You get the convenience and value of a hosted cloud printing service with the real-time speed and responsiveness of an expensive proprietary system.
Integrating with your business process
At PrintNode, we understand that you want to focus on running your business, not managing a cloud printing system. We have designed PrintNode to integrate perfectly with your business processes.
- PrintNode is powered by a standards-compliant, RESTful API that your development team will find super-easy to use and integrate with.
- PrintNode supports a wide variety of querying and notification mechanisms, including push notifications over webhooks and websockets, so you can monitor the health of your integration in real time.
- PrintNode supports whitelabeling of our Client software, for consistent integration with your branding and corporate image.
Shipping, logistics and warehouse printing
PrintNode was originally started to power the printing needs of Warehouse Management Systems, so it should be no surprise that it is a perfect fit for the warehouse.
Fast, reliable, high-quality printing is only part of the story: PrintNode also integrates with weighing scales and makes scale data available via API calls or, for ultimate efficiency and low latency, over websockets. Ideal for pick and pack benches.
