Auto-Print on Status Change
When an order hits your trigger status, the plugin fires through J2Commerce's native event system and submits a print job. No polling. No cron. Fires the moment the status changes.
Post-Print Status Chaining
Confirmed prints, order automatically advances to Ready-for-Picking. Your fulfillment queue manages itself. No human moves orders between stages.
Protection Against Repeat Printing
If your post-print status accidentally matches a trigger status, the plugin detects the loop and bails. Your toner supply is safe. The debug log tells you what to fix.
Retry with Exponential Backoff
Configure 0–5 retry attempts. Failed jobs wait 1s, then 2s, then 4s, up to 8s. Temporary API outages become brief delays, not lost print jobs.
Manual Print Button
Reprint any order from its detail page. Only store managers can use it, and each reprint is recorded in the order history with their name.

Eliminating the Morning Print Queue

High-Volume Fulfillment

Before PrintNode integration, the fulfillment lead spent the first 90 minutes of every shift manually processing overnight orders: log in, find the order, download the PDF, print it, repeat 60+ times. Picking didn't start until well into the morning.

After: trigger set to "Confirmed," copies set to 2 (picker and packing slip). Orders that auto-confirm overnight print the moment they confirm. The lead walks in, grabs the stack that printed while the building was empty, and starts picking immediately. Post-print status advances orders to "Ready for Picking" so the admin queue always reflects reality.

Result: 90 minutes of overhead eliminated per shift. Picking starts on arrival, every day.

Kitchen Tickets Without Kitchen Staff in the Admin

Custom-Order Bakery

A custom-order bakery sells celebration cakes through their Joomla ecommerce store. When a customer pays, the pastry team in the kitchen needs a production ticket immediately — not whenever someone in the front office gets to it.

Configuration: "Payment Received" trigger, A5 paper, one copy, a minimal kitchen ticket template (no customer-facing branding or email headers). Thermal printer in the kitchen connects via PrintNode client on the front office PC.

Within 10 seconds of payment clearing, a production ticket prints in the kitchen. The pastry team never touches Joomla. They see tickets appearing when there's work to do — which is exactly what they wanted.

Result: Zero admin involvement in production ticket flow. Front office handles customers. Kitchen handles cakes.

Three Fulfillment Bays, One Joomla Store

A distributor runs three fulfillment bays — electronics, cables, accessories — from a single J2Commerce installation. They built three custom order statuses: "Electronics-Confirmed," "Cables-Confirmed," "Accessories-Confirmed." The PrintNode plugin is configured with the relevant trigger status and the printer physically mounted at each bay.

Orders route themselves to the right printer. Retry count set to 3 for occasional warehouse WiFi drops. Debug logging on during staging validation, off in production.

When the cloud printing service had a 4-minute outage one Thursday, the retry system held the jobs and submitted when connectivity restored. Nobody noticed. Nobody manually reprinted anything.
